
Metal Earth SR-71 Blackbird Kit
This highly detailed model pays tribute to the legendary aircraft that redefined reconnaissance during its operational years between 1964 and 1998.
Developed by Lockheed and its Skunk Works® division, the Blackbird model was the first aircraft to be constructed primarily of titanium, enabling it to reach a top speed of Mach 3.5+ at an altitude of 80,000 feet. At full velocity, the airplane surface heated up to over 260°C+ (500°F). Despite flying a total of 3,551 missions, not one Blackbird was lost due to enemy military retaliation.
